Twice finished fourth at the Big West Championships in the 1,500m. A proven big race performer, Poston holds a lifetime best in the event of 3:48.75. He also holds the rare distinction of having defeated teammate Bryan Guijarro- a rare feat for a Big West performer - Poston held him off over 3,000m at the 2015 Cal Poly Dual, winning the competition with a blistering last lap.
2014-2015 Track
Competed in nine competitions for the Gauchos. Opened the year with an 8:42.65 clip over the 3k distance at the All-UC. Debuted in the 1,500m at the Big West Double Dual, running 3:55.81. Next up he won the Westmont Collegiate Classic in the 1,500m in 3:56.42. Lowered his season's best time to 3:51.96 in the 1,500m at the San Francisco State DIstance Carnival. Took an impressive second at the Big West Challenge Cup in the 3,000m, finishing in 8:27.17. Dropped his lifetime best in the 1,500m to 3:48.75 at the Bryan Clay Invite. Took that momentum right into the Cal Poly Dual, where he pulled a convincing win at 8:28.18. Placed fourth at the Big West Championships in the 1,500m, holding down a solid kick at 3:55.06.
2014 Cross Country
Competed in one competition, finishing the Lagoon Race with a 26:37.39 performance.
2013-2014 Track
Competed in eight races for the Gauchos and all but one in his signature event the 1,500m. Broke his lifetime best mark going into the year on no fewer than five occasions. Ran 3:54.28 in the 1,500m at the Cal Poly Dual, taking sixth for the Gauchos. Came back at the OXY Invite and shaved his personal best down to 3:51.63. He carried that momentum right into the Big West Championships, turning in an eye opening fourth place performance. His Big West time of 3:50.02 established a new PR.
Cerritos
Competed in the distance events for Cerritos College. Finished 6th at the California Community College State Meet in the 1500m. Captured the South Coast Conference title in the 1500m en route to the state meet. Took 6th in the Community College division of the Mt. Sac Relays in the 1500m.
Prep
Attended El Dorado High School where he saw success in the 1600m and the mile. As a junior he captured 5th place in the Arcadia Mile. Ran his best race as a senior at the Century League Prelims.
