Winton Nguyen will be a familiar face on the Gaucho 4 x400m team after helping the Gauchos win the 2013 Big West relaytitle. He is the Men's Track and Field Golden Eagle Scholar Awardrecipient, honored for his GPA. Had a breakthrough moment at the2013 Big West Championships, dipping under the 48 second mark twiceenroute to 5th place honors. 

2012-2013: Helped lead the Gaucho men to the top of theBig West podium in the 4 x 400m relay. Ran on the Gauchos thirdplace 4 x 100m Big West Championship team. Made a statement in the400m by qualifying for the Big West final with a time of 47.95- aPR for one night as he went on to clip a 47.85 in the final to take5th at the Big West Championships. Ran on the Gauchos NCAA FirstRound 4 x 400m squad. 

2011-2012: Ngyuyen competed in the 400m dashand the 4x400m relay throughout the
season…Went second on the 4x400m relay at big west andhelped his team to a
third place finish…Recorded a best time of 48.87 in the400m dash at the Oxy Invite.

2010-11: Nguyen made an impact in the sprints,competing mainly in the 400m and the 4 x 400m relay team...He ranhis personal best of 49.36 at the Cal Poly Dual meet placing thirdoverall...He qualified for the Big West Conference Championshippreliminary round with a time of 49.93...Nguyen assisted the men's4 x 400m relay team to a first place finish at the Cal Poly Invitewith a combined team time of 3:13.34.

Prep: Nguyen was team MVP in his freshmanthrough junior years of high school...Earned the Coach's Award hissenior year...League Champion in the 400m with a time of 50.58 hissophomore year...League Champion in the 400m, 200m and Triple Jumphis junior years...Held the fastest time in the Central CoastSection in the 400m with a time of 49.46...Scholar Athlete all fouryears of high school...Milpitas High School Apollo Award for USHistory his junior year...Earned Community Service Award his senioryear...Made Honor Roll all four years of high school.
