Biography

Large started out a sprinter in high school, but quickly learned of her potential in the longer distances as she started excelling in the 800m. As she continues putting in the miles, watch for Large's distance running resume to get even better.

2015-2016 Track

Large continued specializing in the 800m in 11 meets for the Gauchos. Had her first big jump at the Big West Challenge, where she improved by 2 seconds to 2:12.98. Her next PB came at the Big West Championships Prelim where she recorded a 2:12.18 to make the final. She scored valuable points for the Gauchos as she finished 7th in the 800m and 6th in the 4x400m.

2014-2015 Track
Large opened her sophomore season with an early indoor appearance in the 800m. She showed promise and stepped up to the distance for the remainder of the outdoor season. Large opened the year with a convincing two lap win at the Round-Up, finishing in 2:14.43. She placed third in the All-UC and 8th in the Big West Double Dual in her new event. She once again dropped under 2:15 at the UCR Spring Track Classic, finishing in 2:14.94. At the SFSU Distance Carnival she finished in 2:14.67. She placed sixth in the Big West Challenge Cup and fourth in the Cal Poly Dual. At the Big West Championship, Large placed 11th in the 800m overall and led the Gauchos to a season's best 5th place showing in the 4 x 400m relay. 

2013-2014 Track 
Large competed in nine meets for the Gauchos during her freshman track campaign. Large added relay depth and also saw action in the 300m and 400m races. Helped the Gaucho place in the top three in the 4x 400m relay on three different occasions. Ran a seasons best in the 400m of 58.74 at the UC Riverside Spring Break Invite. Clipped a 26.32 200m effort at the Cal Poly Dual meet. 

Prep
Competed in the sprints and relays for the Carlsbad High School Lancers. Ran on the state meet qualifying 4 x 400m team as a junior. Ran on the school record setting 4 x 400m relay at the state meet, broken in the state prelims at 3:52.28. Set her 400m PR in the Avocado West League Final at 57.96.

Daughter of Kelly and Matt Large...Majoring in Global Affairs...Aspires to become a Political Affairs Officer with the United Nations...Won scholar athlete awards every year of high school...Interested in Yoga, Ballet, Hiking and eating Italian food...Most memorable athletic moment was anchoring the 4 x 400m relay at the California State Meet...Hero is Allyson Felix...Favorite aspect of collegiate track will be putting on the UCSB uniform to represent her school.
