• Kearra Bastes-Jones sat out the 2019 season as a redshirt.

Bastes-Jones arrives at UCSB from Roseville, Calif., having played her club soccer for Crescenta Valley SC...The team placed in multiple competitions in each year that she was on the team. In 2015, Crescenta Valley won the Strikers Cup, while finishing as a runner up in the Phoenix Cup...The following year, the club won the Utah Avalanche College Showcase, and finished as finalists in the Rage College Showcase. In that season, Bastes-Jones was the Nomads Goalie War Winner in the girls under-16 division...In 2017, she was on the team that won the New York City Cup, were finalists in the Vegas Cup, and finished in first place in the Southern California Developmental Soccer League (SCDSL) Champions Division...The 5' 8" netminder also played for Guillermo Gonzalez at Bishop Amat High School in the Del Rey League of the CIF Southern Section (SS)...Having received several honors along the way, she also served as the team captain from 2017-19...In her freshman campaign, she made it onto the Del Rey League first team and academic team, was the MVP of the Mater Dei Tournament, and earned an honorable mention all area by the San Gabriel Valley Tribune...In the 2016-17 season, she again was named onto the first and academic teams in the Del Rey League, while having her name on the SGVT All-Area Second Team.

Kearra Bastes-Jones was born May 29, 2001 in Duarte, Calif....The daughter of Harriet Bastes-Mercado, David Jones and Bryan Jay Mercado...Bastes-Jones has also accumulated a wealth of experience with the Philippine Women's National Team (PWNT)..She was part of the Olympic Development Program (ODP) winter and summer pools throughout 2016 and 2017, and on the 2018 ODP Cal South State team...In 2018, she participated in the PWNT camp early In the year, played in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women's Asian Cup, and was on the PWNT throughout the World Cup qualification stage...Favorite movies include Just Go With It, Wonder Woman and The Heat...Favorite TV shows include Greys Anatomy, Supergirl and How I Met Your Mother...Bastes-Jones most memorable sports moment was traveling with the PWNT...Favorite sports team is the Seattle Reign...Aspires to become a physical therapist.
