UC SANTA BARBARA

2015-16: At A3 Invitational placed fifth in the 400IM (4:26.50), and eighth in the 200 IM (2:04.37), and tenth in the 200 breaststroke (2:17.15)… Placed fifth in the 200 breaststroke (2:15.78), seventh in the 400 IM (2:25.72 prelims/ 2:27.15 finals), and ninth in the 200IM (2:03.04) at MPSF Championships.

2014-15: Placed third in the 400 IM (4:22.38), seventh in the 200 breaststroke (2:17.79), and eighth in the 200 IM (2:04.16) at MPSF Championships. 

HIGH SCHOOL
Graduated from La Serna High School...Swam under Coach Erin Verstegen...Set school records in the 100 breaststroke, 100 free, 200 IM, and 50 free...Varsity MVP her sophomore, junior, and senior years...League Champion in the 200 IM and 100 breast from 2011-2014...CIF Champion in the 200 free and 100 breast in 2013...Also swam club for Brea Aquatics under Coach Jim Johnson...Qualified for Junior Nationals in the 100 breast, 200 IM, and 400 IM...Qualified for Nationals in the 200 breast.

PERSONAL
Alyssa Shew was born May 1, 1996...Is majoring in Sociology at UCSB...Enjoys surfing in her free time...Lists her top pre-race pump up song as "Losing My Mind"...Enjoys snacking on Gatorade Chews and crunchy peanut butter chewy CliffBars before a meet...Began swimming at age 10...Favorite aspect of college swimming is bonding with the team...If she could add an event to each meet it would be the 100 IM...Winning CIF in both of her individual events in 2013 is the proudest achievement of her swimming career.
