2014-15: Placed 6th in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.13) and 2nd in the 200 freestyle relay (23.48) at MPSF Championships...Had the fastest breaststroke split of the MPSF meet (28.08)...1st place in 100 breaststroke (1:05.23) against Cal Poly...15th place in 100 breaststroke at A3 Invitational (1:04.92)...3rd place in 50 freestyle against Cal Poly (24.77)...2015 MPSF All-Academic Team...2015 Charles Bunten Award for Courage
2012-13: Placed 12th in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.11) and 21st in the 100 freestyle (52.63) at the MPSF Championships…Placed second in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.92) against Cal State Bakersfield on Dec. 15…Finished third in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.12) against UNLV on Jan. 19…Recorded another third-place finish in the 100 breaststroke this time coming against Cal Poly on Feb. 9.
HIGH SCHOOL
Graduated from Merced High School as Valedictorian…Swam under coach Kit Grattan…Named Merced County Swimmer of the Year in 2009…Holds her high school’s 100 breaststroke record…Helped her team to win League Championships in 2010, 2011 and 2012…Also swam for Clovis Swim Club.
PERSONAL
Charis "Carrot" Hopee was born in Northridge, Calif...She is majoring in Microbiology and lists being the fifth Beatle as her dream career...At UCSB she is involved in Reality Church, Jesus Burgers, and Isla Vista Church...Lists her top pre-race pump up song as "Please Please Me" by the Beatles...Enjoys peanut butter and bananas before a meet...She began swimming at age 10...Enjoys playing the violin and being with friends…Favorite aspect of college swimming is being part of such a close-knit and talented team...Setting a high school record in the 100 breaststroke is the proudest achievement of her swimming career.
