Alama had a breakout junior season, placing sixth at the Big West Championship in the discus. She ranks #7 All-Time in school history with a throw of 157'11. Look for her to continue to climb that list while challenging for an NCAA First Round bid in 2016.
2014-2015 Outdoor
Alama opened the year with second place finishes in the shot and discus at the Round-Up. her marks were 38'9 and 142'2 respectively. She placed second in the discus at the Big West Double Dual, throwing 141'10. She upped her shot put best to 39'11.5, placing fifth overall. She placed third at the UCR Spring Track Classic in the discus, throwing the #7 All-Time mark in UCSB history at 157'11. She came back the following weekend to place sixth at the Stanford Invite, throwing 148'1 in the discus. She threw 142'9 in the discus at the Big West Challenge, placing third. Threw 40'0.75 in the shot put at the Triton Invite, also threw the discus 152'6 at the Triton. Placed second at the Cal Poly Dual in the discus, recording a throw of 146'. She placed fifth in the shot at the Dual, throwing 40'4.25. At the Big West Championships, Alama placed sixth with a fifth round throw of 155'0.
2013-2014 Outdoor
Alama competed in 10 competitions for the Gauchos in her sophomore season. She opened the year with a discus win at the Gaucho Round-Up with a toss of 136'6. She placed fourth at the All-Cal in the discus with a throw of 136'3. She placed eighth at the UC Riverside Spring Break Invite in the discus with a throw of 138'5. She placed sixth at the Big West Challenge in the discus with a mark of 137'6. She placed 16th at the Bryan Clay after throwing 136'2. She placed 10th at the Oxy Invite with a throw of 138'0. Set a seasons best in the hammer of 149'2 at the Big West Challenge.
2012-2013 Outdoor
Had a season best throw in the discus to finish runner up at the Westmont Collegiate Classic with a mark of 138’6. Best hammer effort of the year came at the Cal Poly Dual Meet for a fifth place finish with a mark of 146’7.
Prep
Alama graduated from Ontario High School where she competed under Coach Sluder…Named Track and Field MVP in 2010…Holds the high school discus record (129’11)…Helped her team to CIF Master Meet SS in 2011…Also competed in volleyball and basketball.

Ashley Alama was born January 1, 1994 in Honolulu, HI to parents Akeripa nd Simau Fealofai…Has three younger siblings, AJ, AB, Ariana and Abigail…Enjoys playing the ukulele, spending time with family, singing and dancing when no one is looking…Favorite movie is “Napoleon Dynamite”…Enjoys listening to the music of FIJI…Most memorable athletic achievement was her twenty foot jump in discus throw during her junior year…Personal hero is her great-grandfather…Favorite aspect of college track and field is the prowler push…Is a member of the campus Pacific Islander Student Association…Hopes to become an accountant.
