NORTHRIDGE, Calif. -
The UC Santa Barbara men's swimming team conqured Cal State Northridge 109-96, Friday at Matador Pool. The Gauchos are 2-2 in head-to-head competition.
Curtis Bauer and Brock Roverud each won two events for the Gauchos. Bauer won the 50
Freestyle (21.57) and the 100 Freestyle (47.93) while Roverud finished first in the 200
Freestyle (1:46.70) and the 200 Backstroke (1:56.22).
The Matadors had a chance to steal the victory heading into the final event, the 200
Freestyle Relay. CSUN trailed UCSB 98-90 with 11 points going to the first-place team,
four points for second and two points for third. The Gauchos only entered one relay team
in the event, and it would be all they would need as the UCSB-A team outtouched the
CSUN-A squad 1:26.70 to 1:27.04 to seal the victory.
UCSB heads back to the pool Saturday, November 19, 2005 at the University of Arizona at 1:00pm.
