SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Amanda Ball scored on a penalty kick in the 87th minute to pull UC Santa Barbara into a 1-1 tie with Cal Poly, and after 20 minutes of overtime the score remained the same as the teams battled to a 1-1 tie in a Big West Conference contest on Thursday night.

The Mustangs (6-8-2 overall, 1-3-1 in Big West) took a 1-0 lead in the 82nd minute when Chelsea Barry scored on a free kick from 35 yards out. Barry's shot, which broke a scoreless tie, went over the UCSB (10-2-2, 1-1-1) wall an into the upper left corner of the goal as goalkeeper Brittney Rogers attempt at a save just missed.

In the overtime, the Gauchos dominated with several opportunities but could not put the ball home. Mustang goalkeeper Sophia Brown finished with six saves, including a pair in the overtimes, to help her team to the tie. Cal Poly also had a pair of team saves on the night. Rogers tallied a pair of saves for UCSB.

Ball's goal for UCSB was her 10th of the season. She became the first Gaucho to score 10 goals in a season since Jennifer Borcich notched 15 in the 2005 season. 

Mallory Hromatko had six shots for UCSB, the most for either team. Ball had five, three of which were on frame, and Madeline Gibson had three. Overall the Gauchos outshot the Mustangs 25-9 and also had a 6-0 edge in corner kicks.

Santa Barbara returns home on Sunday, Oct. 16 to host Cal State Fullerton in a 2:00 p.m. match at Harder Stadium.
