IRVINE, Calif.- In a Big West matchup against UC Irvine Saturday afternoon the No. 48 UCSB men's tennis team took care of business defeating the Anteaters on the road with a final score of 5-2.
Santa Barbara (15-5) stays undefeated in conference play at 3-0 and extends its winning streak to 8 games. UC Irvine's (7-13) loss pins them with a record of 1-3 in conference.
Dropping the first doubles point of the day, the Gauchos worked to their strengths in singles play to advance to victory.
Taking five out of six matches junior Cody Rakela set things off by topping Bruce Man-Song-Hing 6-2, 6-2 for Santa Barbara.
On court 4, Anders Holm grinded out a victory of his own coming back from a 3-6 set in the first match eventually win 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 over Mason Hansen.
Chase Masciorini closed things off for UCSB pulling out a hard fought victory, 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 against Vatsal Bajpal.
The Gauchos finish up the weekend with a home match against UC Riverside. The match will be held at 10 AM at the UCSB RecCen Courts.
