Gauchos Blanked at No. 27 Pepperdine, 1-0

Box Score

MALIBU, Calif. - After battling a pair of West Coast Conference opponents to ties last weekend, UC Santa Barbara faced Pepperdine, one of that league's best teams, on Friday afternoon and fell on the road in Malibu, 1-0.

The Waves (6-2-2), who have yet to allow a goal at home this season, stifled the Gauchos' (3-4-3) who were able to muster just five total shots, none of which were on frame.

Pepperdine broke the scoreless tie at the 37:55 mark when Calista Reyes found Joelle Anderson just on top of the 18-yard box. Anderson settled the pass from Reyes and pounded a shot into the upper right portion of the goal.

The Waves had a 13-5 advantage in overall shots and a 4-0 edge in shots on goal. Five different Gauchos had one shot apiece, including Amanda Ball, the team's leading scorer. The shutout ended Ball's streak of scoring a goal in four straight matches. Brittney Rogers recorded three saves for UCSB.

The Gauchos return home on Sunday to host the University of Denver in a match that will kick-off at noon in Harder Stadium. It will be the team's final non-conference match of the season. Plenty of tickets remain available and can be purchased by clicking here
