Box Score SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Two first-half goals in the span of five minutes proved to be enough for the University of San Francisco Dons (4-1-0) to defeat the UC Santa Barbara women's soccer team (4-1-0) on Friday night at Negoesco Stadium.
With the loss, the Gauchos had their four-game win streak and three-game shutout streak snapped.
The Dons went ahead in the 24th minute when defender Cassidy Kaumeyer's long ball from midfield set up forward Miciah Madison's first-time right-footed lob over freshman goalkeeper Natalie Hill into UCSB's goal.
Five minutes later, midfielder Samantha Jehnings landed a solo effort from the top of the box into goal to double the Dons' advantage.
The Gauchos recorded three shots in the game, coming from senior midfielder Madeline Gibson, junior winger Shaelan Murison, and sophomore attacking midfielder Christine Maurer. Maurer forced a save out of San Francisco goalkeeper Molly Eby with her shot in the 59th minute.
Hill was called into action throughout as she made three saves in the match. The Palo Alto, Calif. native has now made 10 saves in the last three games after only having to make two in the pair of games at the UNLV Invitational to open the season.
The game marked senior right back Mallory Hromatko's 60th appearance and Gibson's 40th start in the duo's respective UCSB careers.
The Gauchos close out the weekend in the Bay Area with a matchup against Cal at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. The game will be broadcast live on the Pac-12 Network.
