UCSB Drops 1-0 Decision at CSUN

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Avery DeWitt's first half goal gave Cal State Northridge a 1-0 lead over visiting UC Santa Barbara on Thursday night and the Matadors held on for the win as the teams were scoreless over the final 60 minutes.

The Gauchos (6-4-3 overall, 2-1-0 Big West) were outshot in the game by a 12-4 margin. The Matadors (9-4-3, 3-1-0) also had four shots on goal to UCSB's one. 

UCSB goalkeeper Hanna DeWeese had three saves to keep the match close, but her team was unable to muster a score. 

The Gauchos return home on Sunday, Oct. 20 to host Cal Poly in a 1:00 p.m. match. The contest will be the program's annual Pink Game to help bring awareness to breast cancer and breast cancer research. The first 200 fans in attendance will receive a t-shirt commemorating the event.
