Box Score SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Lynsee Voss scored a goal in the 12th minute to give UC Santa Barbara the lead and the Gauchos continued to score as they rolled to a 3-0 win over visiting Fresno State on Friday night at Harder Stadium.
Voss scored the first goal of the match and season when Katherine Sheehy played the ball through, into the box from the right wing. Voss caught the ball and finished it in stride, finishing it low with her right foot.
Shaelan Murison scored her fourth goal of the year and gave her team a 2-0 lead in the 52nd minute when she scored unassisted. Murison dribbled through the defense and pounded a shot past Milena Zink and into the left portion of the goal.
"This was a great overall performance for us tonight," said head coach Paul Stumpf. "I'm happy that our young ladies got a result and were rewarded for their hard work."
Santa Barbara took a 3-0 lead at the 60:56 mark when Murison hit Isabella Viana with a pass and Viana wound her way through the Bulldog backline and whacked a shot past Zink.
The three goals equaled most scored by Santa Barbara in 2019. Previously, the highest output was a trio of goals in a 3-0 blanking of Idaho.
Once more, Hanna DeWeese was spectacular in goal for UCSB. The reigning Big West Defensive Player of the Week, stonewalled Fresno State for her third complete game shutout of the season. She faced six shots and rejected every one of them.
UCSB (2-2-3) will travel to Loyola Marymount on Sunday for a non-conference match at 1:00 p.m. against the Lions. The Gauchos will not return home until Sunday, Oct., 5 when they host defending league champion Long Beach State in a 1:00 p.m. match.
