IRVINE, Calif. - The seventh-ranked UC Santa Barbara men's water polo team (19-7, 1-2 Golden Coast Conference) defeated No. 15 UC Irvine 12-9 in GCC play on Saturday afternoon at Anteater Aquatics Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sam Nangle scored four of his five goals on the day in the first half, as UCSB took an 8-2 lead into halftime.
- Ryan Brosnan, Nangle, and Nathan Puentes scored to help the Gauchos match Irvine in the third quarter, 3-3.
- UCSB took its foot off the gas pedal in the fourth and conceded four goals to the Anteaters in the final frame, but the blue and gold maintained plenty of separation as it collected its first GCC win of the season.
