SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara women's soccer team (5-6-3) earned its sixth shutout of the season as the Gauchos took down the CSUN Matadors 2-0 on Thursday night at Harder Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Gauchos got going early, scoring in the third minute when senior defender Emma Vanderhyden sent in a ball to the far post from the left wing on a free kick, where freshman defender Shaye Douglas beat a throng of players from both teams to the ball and headed it to the opposite post for senior midfielder Lauren Moss to head into goal.

• In the 66^th minute, Emma Vanderhyden was once again involved in a goal-scoring opportunity, delivering a corner kick from the right side to the far post, with freshman defender Alyssa O'Brien guiding the ball into the top right corner of net with her head to double the Gauchos' lead.

• The Gaucho defense earned their third clean sheet in a row, having not allowed a goal for the past five hours, 14 minutes, and 35 seconds of game time.
• With her second goal this season, O'Brien joins Lauren Helwig as the team's joint-top goalscorers.
• Vanderhyden and Douglas now share the team lead in assists with three apiece.
