SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara women's basketball team earned a 78-68 win on the final day of the regular season over Cal Poly at the Mott Athletics Center on Saturday afternoon.

Senior point guard Danae Miller scored 26 points on six makes, including two three-pointers, and a perfect 12-of-12 performance at the free throw line. Junior guard Taylor Mole added 15 points and senior guard Megan Anderson had 12 as UCSB improved to 7-13 on the year and 7-9 in Big West play.

UCSB and Cal Poly played a tight first half, with Cal Poly ahead 18-17 after the first quarter and 31-30 at halftime after the two squads matched each other in the second frame.

Miller led the team at halftime with eight points while Mole had six, and Anderson and freshman guard Anya Choice had four points apiece in the first half.

The Gauchos finally broke through in the third quarter, going on a 16-0 run in a five-minute span in which redshirt senior guard Doris Jones, Choice, Miller, and Anderson all contributed.

The sudden flurry helped them take a 53-40 lead into the fourth quarter, in which they outscored Cal Poly 7-2 in the first two and a half minutes to work up to their largest lead of the afternoon at 60-42.

However, the hosts rallied back, whittling the deficit down to seven after an 11-0 run, but UCSB's lead was too significant to overcome.

The Gauchos will move on to the Big West Conference Tournament, in which they're seeded seventh, to face the second seed UC Irvine on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
