Women's Soccer Falls in Regular Season Opener to Iowa State, 2-0

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara women's soccer team fell to Iowa State 2-0 in its 2021 regular season opener at Harder Stadium on Thursday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Two first half goals from the Cyclones propelled the visitors past the Gauchos. The first came in the 18th minute from Iowa State's Lauren McConnell, as she put the ball into the Gaucho net on an assist from Brooke Miller.
  • At the 39:14 mark, Anna Lindgren scored unassisted as she chased a through ball and latched onto the end of it to score the second goal of the game for Iowa State.
  • The Gauchos were outshot 8-6, but had four shots compared to two for Iowa State in the second half.
  • Goalkeeper Evann Smith made four saves in the loss.
