Box Score SAN JOSE, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara women's soccer team lost 3-1 in its matchup with San Jose State at Spartan Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans took the lead early on in the first half as Evan House scored unassisted in the 19th minute of play.
- In the 40th minute, UCSB junior midfielder Lindsey Porter sent a free kick towards goal that was spilled by the San Jose State goalkeeper right into the path of freshman defender Alyssa O'Brien, who tapped it in to tie things up at 1-1.
- The Spartans went back ahead five minutes after the halftime break when Taylor Phillips picked up a pass from Kayla Fortenberry and scored off the underside of the crossbar on a shot from outside the box.
- Kiana Miyazato scored on a penalty kick to give the hosts a two-goal cushion in the 74th minute.
