SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton midfielder Karla Rodriguez scored the game-winner in the 73^rd minute as the visiting Titans defeated the UC Santa Barbara women's soccer team on Sunday afternoon at Harder Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Gauchos blanked the Titans on shots in the first half, with senior defender Emma Vanderhyden's attempt in the 27^th minute that just went over the top of goal perhaps the best opportunity that the hosts would have in the first half.
• Fullerton found the go-ahead and eventual game-winning goal in the 73^rd minute on a Katelin Bebe cross from the right edge of the box that was met by the head of Karla Rodriguez into the back of the net.
• The Gauchos were not able to find a response, through junior attacker Claire Grouwinkel and Vanderhyden forced saves out of Fullerton goalkeeper DeAira Jackson.

• "I thought our goalkeeper [Evann Smith] played very well. She dealt with a number of longer-flighted balls in, a lot of set pieces and corner kicks, and she was solid. I thought Sophia Vivar had a pretty good day, and I thought Lauren Helwig did well when we moved her up to the nine, and of course Emma Vanderhyden as well." – UCSB head coach Paul Stumpf on his team's performance.
