Box Score SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (Oct. 15, 2022)— The UCSB women's volleyball team (11-7, 7-1) improved to 6-0 at home Saturday night sweeping UC Davis (8-10, 3-5) 25-14, 25-12, 25-20.
On the Stat Sheet
- Tasia Farmer led all players with 13 kills on an errorless .722 clip, which is a career-high by large margin. She added three digs and a block as well.
- Michelle Ohwobete added 12 kills on a .360 clip to go with five digs. She also committed just one service error on 26 receptions as the primary passer.
- Tallulah Froley continued her potent offensive run notching nine kills on 13 swings with just two errors for a .538 hitting percentage.
- The Gauchos outhit the Aggies .413 to .110 sending down 47 kills to their 28, and out-blocked them eight to three.
- Macall Peed had 15 digs on the night to lead all players and added four assists and an ace.
How it Happened
- The opening set was tight through the early points until the Gauchos broke off a huge 16-5 run that saw them lead by as many as 12 at 19-7. UCSB hit an outstanding .517 to UC Davis' .111 and converted on 71% of its sideout opportunities. Farmer went for seven kills in the set and Ohwobete went for six.
- The second set was more of the same but the Gauchos got ahead quickly parlaying a 13-4 run into an 18-7 lead. The home team outhit the visitor .423 to -.030 and stretched the lead out to 13 at the frame's end. UCSB collected six blocks in the set.
- UCSB broke away again in the third and final set but this time the Aggies clawed back into it to make a four-point game at 20-16. A medley of kills from Deni Wilson, Froley, and Ohwobete kept UC Davis at bay and allowed the Gauchos to trade points until the finish.
