UCSB Swimming (M&W) at Toyota U.S Open

National Meet
Coming off a successful weekend at Utah, a select group of UCSB swimmers will travel to Greensboro, North Carolina to compete in the US Open. Swimming will start on Wednesday and end on Saturday. On the women's side, Reagan Nibarger and Katie Nugent will be in attendance while Austin Sparrow, Kyle Brill, Corban McIntosh, Jackson Mason, and Justin Wong are representing the mens.
Top of the Conference
UCSB currently holds the fastest times in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation in several events for the 2022-23 season. Samantha Banos has the fastest times for the 200 Fly (1:59.04) and the 200 IM (2:01.02). Sparrow now holds the top spot in the 500 Free with a time of 4:22.77 while Taber DaCosta takes the 1650 Free at 15:14.29. Matthew Driscoll continues to dominate in the 100 Back(46.88). Brill is the leader for the 200 Back (1:43.11), 200 IM (1:45.27), and 400 IMv (3:46.74). Alec Cullen also continues to hold the top spot in the 200 Breast (2:00.21).
The men's team also holds the top spots in the 200 Medley Relay (1:26.63), the 400 Free Relay (2:53.96), and the 800 Free Relay (6:31.27)
Athletes of the Week
UCSB has now had five MPSF/TYR Athletes of the Week: Sparrow, Nina Statler, Banos, Driscoll, and Brill. Statler and Sparrow were named for the week of October 12 while Banos was named for the week of October 21. Brill was named just last week. This was the women's first MPSF honor of their careers and the men's first MPSF Athlete of the Week honor of their careers.
