Gauchos Taken Down by UCLA

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara men's tennis team was defeated 6-1 by UCLA Friday afternoon at Los Angeles Tennis Center. This marks the Gauchos' (5-3) second loss in a row after winning their previous three matches.

How it Happened

  • The Bruins quickly seized the doubles point with a 6-1 win on court one and a 6-2 win on court two
  • In singles, court five was the first to finish, with UCLA's Karl Lee defeating Gianluca Brunkow 6-2, 6-2. On court two, Alexander Hoogmartens downed Victor Krustev 6-2, 6-1 to put the Bruins up 3-0
  • Patrick Zahraj's 6-4, 6-0 win over Kai Brady on court three was the match clincher for UCLA. The score was 5-0 after Drew Baird defeated Phillip Jordan 6-3, 6-4 on court one
  • The Gauchos salvaged a point on court four with Pablo Masjuan defeating Giacomo Revelli 6-2, 6-4. The match wrapped up when Stefan Leustian narrowly defeated Jonathan Zhang 6-0, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8) on court six
