Box Score UCSB overcame an early nine point deficit after the first quarter to pull away and leave UC San Diego with a 59-47 road win. Ila Lane paced the Gauchos offensively with 18 points and added nine rebounds. The Gauchos improve to 11-7 overall on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A cold first quarter saw the Gauchos trail by nine after shooting just 3 of 12 from the field to open the game.
- UCSB turned up the heat offensively and defensively in the second quarter to get back in the game. The Gauchos held the Tritons scoreless for a five minute stretch and went into halftime tied at 23-23.
- The Gauchos took control with two separate runs in the third quarter: a 5-0 run to open the quarter and a 6-0 run to close it proved to be decisive as UCSB shot 50% from the floor and made 7-of-8 from the free throw line in the quarter.
- UCSB extended their largest lead of the game to 15 in the 4th before settling in to close out the game and win by 12.
STATLINE
- Ila Lane led the scoring with 18 points and added nine rebounds. Lane was 6-of-7 from the free throw line.
- Danae Miller went the distance, logging 40 minutes of game time and scoring 13 points while grabbing eight rebounds. The senior continues to add to her impressive career totals.
