• South Coast Invitational Highlights
The UC Santa Barbara softball team went 3-2 over the weekend at the South Coast Invitational hosting New Mexico, Wagner, and Santa Clara. Apart from their first game against New Mexico, the Gauchos recorded a four-game streak of double digit hits.

The tournament started with a double-header against the New Mexico Lobos. The first game saw an RBI single hit from Korie Thomas, a hit from Maci Fines, and two hits from Tyler Goldstein

In game two against the Lobos, UCSB had 14 hits, recording their season-high at the time. The Gauchos put up a good fight after registering four late runs in the bottom of the seventh, but it wasn't enough to take the win.

Santa Barbara's offense ignited in the last three games of the tournament. Their first win came against Wagner College (3-12), after the Gauchos put up their new season-high 16 hits. As a team, Santa Barbara collectively batted at .500 clip - recording a 11-4 win.

On day two of the tournament, junior pitcher Alyssa Molina threw a five-inning shutout (12-0), allowing just three hits, striking out seven, and walking only one. Her incredible defense in the circle carried her team and helped tally her first win of the 2022 season.

UCSB closed out the South Coast Invitational with a 9-6 win against Santa Clara. Shortstop Madelyn McNally was an offensive catalyst against the Broncos, going 4-for-4 at bat with two extra base hits. Tyler Goldstein and Rayna Cohen racked up three hits apiece, while Ally Nodohara and Teah Thies each put up two.
