Back on the Road
After a month break, the men (3-0) and women (4-1) Gauchos will kick off the year with a dual match against Cal Baptist on Saturday.
UCSB saw much success in December as Kyle Brill qualified for the 2024 Olympic Trials in the 400m Individual Medley at the Toyota US Open. Grace Lockwood finished fourth in the 200m Back (2:58.90), fifth in the 50m Back (39.36), and 11th overall in the 100m Back (1:22.91). The team also swept CSU Bakersfield in a dual meet.
Top of the Conference
UCSB currently holds the fastest times in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation in several events for the 2022-23 season. Samantha Banos has the fastest times for the 200 Fly (1:59.04) and the 200 IM (2:01.02). Sparrow now holds the top spot in the 500 Free with a time of 4:22.77 while Taber DaCosta takes the 1650 Free at 15:14.29. Matthew Driscoll continues to dominate in the 100 Back(46.88). Brill is the leader for the 200 Back (1:43.11), 200 IM (1:45.27), and 400 IM (3:46.74). Alec Cullen also continues to hold the top spot in the 200 Breast (2:00.21).
The men's team also holds the top spots in the 200 Medley Relay (1:26.63), the 400 Free Relay (2:53.96), and the 800 Free Relay (6:31.27)
