LAS VEGAS, Nev. - After a long weekend, the UC Santa Barbara men's (7-1) and women's (7-4) swim teams return home with wins against Wyoming, Hawaii, and UNLV. The men defeated the Cowboys 229-104 and the Rainbow Warriors 227-111 but fell to the Rebels 182-151. The women fell to Wyoming 183-168 and Hawaii 232-116 but took the win over UNLV 172-168.

The men saw first-place finishes in nine events. Taber daCosta started it off in the 1650 Free, coming in at 15:23.18. Then Kyle Brill took the 100 Back, touching at 49.18. He would also take second in the 200 Back (1:44.76). Usually in sprint events, Austin Sparrow took long distance for a spin and came out victorious in the 500 Free (4:29.07).

The Individual Medleys were particularly successful as the Gauchos took the top three spots in the 400 IM and the top two spots in the 200 IM. Brill (3:50.15), Dominic Falcon (3:52.64), and daCosta (3:53.98) came in first, second, and third respectively in the 400IM while it was Brill and Falcon (1:49.13) again in the 200 IM. Falcon would also finish first in the 100 (47.98) and 200 Fly (1:44.83)

Other placing finishes came from Sean Gutowski who took second and third in the 100 (44.00) and 50 Free (20.58), respectively. Other second place finishes came from Henry Adamson in the 100 Breast (53.75) and Justin Wong in the 200 Fly ((48.03)

On the women's side, the 400 IM was also a successful event with Samantha Banos (4:23.96) and Sophia Ryan (4:25.22) taking the top two spots. Banos would also finish second in the 100 (54.73) and 200 Fly (1:59.15).

The 200 Back also saw some excitement as Paige Gambetta and Hazel Derr touched in right after each other to take second and third with times of 2:00.03 and 2:00.32 respectively.

Third place finishes would come from Gillian Flath touching in at 55.94 in the 100 Back and Tyryn Empremsilapa in the 100 Fly with a time of 2:03.87

The Gauchos will return to Campus Pool next weekend, February 3rd and 4th, to host the UCSB Invite and honor this year's seniors.
