IRVINE, Calif. – The Big West has announced this week's award winner for Men's Basketball's Player of the Week. After a phenomenal two-game stretch, UC Santa Barbara's Ajay Mitchell picked up the award.
 
This is Mitchell's first Big West Player of the Week accolade of the season as the junior guard averaged 28.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists as the Gauchos secured wins over Fresno State and Northern Arizona. Against the Bulldogs, Mitchell contributed 27 points while grabbing seven rebounds along the way. When he came back on the court against the Lumberjacks, Mitchell put up 30 points to go along with five assists as he contributed to 42 of the team's 70 points in that game.
 
Mitchell and the rest of the Gauchos will be back on the court again on Wednesday, Dec. 4, as they take on the New Mexico Lobos in Albuquerque. Fans can watch all of the action on the Mountain West Network.
