IRVINE, Calif. - The Big West announced the winners of its weekly basketball awards following an impressive week of games. This week, UC Santa Barbara's Alyssa Marin earned her first career weekly award after being named The Big West Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week.

Marin earned the award after setting a career-high in points scored with 22 against Nevada. The senior shot .474 from the floor and .444 from beyond the arc over the two-game stretch. She averaged 15.0 points and 4.0 assists per game, leading the team in both categories. Additionally, she helped UC Santa Barbara outscore their opponents 160-112 with a +24.0 scoring margin over the two games against UC Santa Cruz and Nevada. If that wasn't enough Marin surpassed 500 career points with her 22 points outing, the third Gauchos to surpass 500 career points this year.

UC Santa Barbara is currently 5-2 on the season and will head north to Stockton, Calif. this Friday, Dec. 8 to compete against the University of the Pacific. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Alex G. Spanos Center.
