Gauchos Head North to Face Pacific

STOCKTON, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara Women's Basketball team hits the road one last time before returning home for a four-game homestand. The Gauchos will travel north to Stockton, Calif. to take on the University of Pacific on Friday, Dec. 8.

LAST TIME OUT
The Gauchos won their third consecutive game after defeating the Nevada Wolf Pack 73-66 in overtime last Saturday, Dec. 2. Santa Barbara was led by senior Alyssa Marin who scored a career-high 22 points helping her earn The Big West Women's Basketball Player of the Week award.

TAMING THE TIGERS
The Pacific Tigers enter the weekend 5-4 overall averaging 68.6 points per game. The Tigers have played three Big West schools so far this season in Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Bakersfield and UC Irvine in those contests they are 2-1. Pacific gathered wins over Fullerton and Bakersfield to open the season but fell to Irvine on Nov. 25.

The Tigers have five players who are averaging 10.0 or more points a game, leading the charge is Liz Smith who is averaging 14.4 points, 4.1 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game. Just behind her is Elizabeth Elliott who is averaging 13.9 points per game and grabbing just under seven rebounds per contest.

Overall, the Tigers are shooting the ball at a .416 clip but are struggling from beyond the arc. Pacific currently posts a three-point percentage of .269, which ranks 266th in Division I. On the other hand, they do get to the charity stripe quite a bit making over 14 free throws a game. With all that said, Pacific is currently third in the WCC standings sitting behind Santa Clara and Gonzaga.
