SAN ANTONIO (Feb. 5, 2023) — The UC Santa Barbara men's tennis team earned their seventh win in as many matches on Sunday, defeating UTSA, 5-2, to complete a two-match visit to San Antonio. The Gauchos' 7-0 record is their best start to a season in over two decades.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Sunday's doubles action was a back-and-forth affair, with UTSA winning on court two, only for UCSB to answer with a win on court one. The point ultimately went to the Roadrunners by the finest of margins, a 7-6 win on court three.
The hosts took the first point of singles as well, winning on court three, but the Gauchos were unfazed by the 2-0 deficit. UCSB won all five remaining singles matches, with Luka Mrsic, Conrad Brown, and 77th-ranked Pablo Masjuan doing so in straight sets. Lucca Liu won in three sets to clinch the match, with each set having a 6-3 scoreline. Phillip Jordan wrapped up the day's action on court one, taking the decisive third set there in a tiebreaker, thanks in part to his opponent receiving a penalty.
