SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (Sunday, April 23) - The UC Santa Barbara Men's Tennis team (20-3, 5-1 Big West) earned a shutout victory in the Blue-Green rivalry over Cal Poly while earning tri-champion honors and the No. 1 overall seed in The Big West Championships. The Gauchos dominated from start to finish winning in straight sets on all three of their singles victories.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Gauchos grabbed the early advantage in doubles play with Pablo Masjuan and Gianluck Brunkow winning on court three 6-3. The Mustangs answered back to tie doubles on court two. It was the Gauchos that came out with the decisive victory on court one. Phillip Jordan and Kai Brady gave the Gauchos the early 1-0 lead.
UC Santa Barbara swept through singles play earning three points to shut out the Mustangs. Masjuan earned the second point in a straight-set victory on court two. Conrad Brown gave the Gauchos a third point winning 7-5 and 6-3 on court five. Phillip Jordan earned the clinching point defeating No. 104-ranked Noah Berry in straight sets.
