KANSAS CITY, Mo. (July 20, 2023) – The UC Santa Barbara Men's Basketball team did not only excel on the court, but also in the classroom. This hard work earned the Gauchos the National Association of Basketball Coaches' Team Academic Excellence Award, the organization announced today.
In order to receive this accolade, a men's basketball program must have above a team 3.0 GPA for the 2022-23 academic year. The Gauchos met this requirement with 3.16 team GPA through all three quarters.
Not only that, but UC Santa Barbara had three athletes make it onto the NABC Honors Court as well for their individual performances in the classroom.
Ajare Sanni,
Jakov Kukic and
Gage Gomez all maintained above a 3.2 GPA throughout the academic year, which made them eligible for this award.
