Buckley Earns Second Defensive Player of the Week Honor

IRVINE, Calif. – For the second time this season, UC Santa Barbara Women's Soccer goalkeeper, Maddie Buckley has been named The Big West Defensive Player of the Week. The conference announced the weekly awards on Monday afternoon.
 
For the second time this season, Maddie Buckley has been named Defensive Player of the Week. The Lafayette, California native made four saves across two games, including a shutout against CSUN on Sunday, Oct. 20. The sophomore lowered her goals-against average to a 0.69, which tops the conference and ranks 37th nationally.
 
So far this season Buckley has recorded eight shutouts which ranks in a tie for seventh in a single season. Overall, the Gauchos have shutout opponents nine times. Her 0.69 goals-against average ranks third all-time in a single season.
 
Buckley and the Gauchos return to action on Thursday, Oct. 24 as they host UC Davis at 7 p.m. For those unable to attend, the match will be streamed through ESPN+ with live stats available through ucsbgauchos.com.
