Gauchos Start Homestand with Nevada and San Jose State

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – After coming up short in their first road test of the season, the UC Santa Barbara Women's Basketball team returns to The Thunderdome for a four-game homestand starting on Thursday, Nov. 14. This week the Gauchos will welcome the University of Nevada and San Jost State.
 
SCOUTING THE WOLF PACK
The Wolf Pack will come into Thursday's contest against the Gauchos with a 1-2 record. Nevada's lone win came against Bushnell, while their two losses have come at Oregon and in a neutral site match against Colorado.
 
Kennedy Lee and Lexie Givens lead the way offensively for Nevada. Lee averages 13.7 points per game while Givens posts 12.3 per contest. Lee and Givens have been lighting it up from the field early on combing for a .604 shooting percentage from the field. Givens has also shown range with a .583 percentage from beyond the arc.
 
The Wolf Pack has allowed 66.3 points per game through their first three contests, allowing opponents to shoot at a .442 clip. They have blocked just six shots and have posted 21 steals early on.
 
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
San Jose State will come to The Thunderdome with a 2-1 record with wins over Xavier and San Francisco State. Their lone loss comes against Cal. The Spartans will enter the contest scoring 66.7 points per game and shooting at a 0.424 clip from the field. They are also out-rebounding their opponent by nearly seven boards per game.
 
Offensively the Spartans are led by a three-headed attack in Finau Tonga, Djessira Diawara and Rylei Waugh. The trio average 33.7 points per contest. Tonga leads the way scoring 14.7 per game while also grabbing 7.0 rebounds per contest. All three shoot over .400 percent from the field.
 
Defensively San Jose State has allowed opponents to score on average 61.0 points per game. They limit their opponents to shoot just .343 from the floor and have recorded six blocks and 22 steals. They have forced 53 turnovers through their first three games.

The Gauchos contest against the Wolf Pack will tip off at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14. UC Santa Barbara's game against San Jost State will start at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17. Both games will be streamed through the ESPN+ with live stats available through ucsbgauchos.com.
