IRVINE, Calif. – The Big West announced the winners of its weekly basketball awards following the second week of non-conference action. This week, UC Santa Barbara's Alyssa Marin earned her first weekly award of the season and her third career nod.
 
After a slow start to the season, the fifth-year senior scored 31 points in back-to-back games against two Mountain West opponents. The Camarillo native shot over 45 percent from the field, 35 percent from three and 85 percent from the charity stripe. Averaging 31.0 points across two games this week, Marin ranked fourth nationally in points per game from Nov. 11 to Nov. 17.
 
She added four rebounds and two assists to her stat line for the week. She broke several records, including single-game free throw attempts (25) and single-game free throws made (22) against San Jose State on Sunday afternoon.
 
Marin and the Gauchos return to action on Thursday, Nov. 21 as they host Cal Lutheran in The Thunderdome. The game will tipoff at 7 p.m. and will be streamed through ESPN+.
