Gauchos Head North for Lone Match Against Cal

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara Men's Tennis team is set to travel to the Bay Area this weekend to face-off against No.65 Cal. The Gauchos are riding on a three-match winning streak, with a most recent 5-2 victory over the University of Hawaii.

HISTORY
UC Santa Barbara holds a 2-7 record in the all-time series against Cal. The Gauchos secured their second win over the Golden Bears in the 2022-23 season with a 4-3 triumph. Cal enters the match with a 7-7 season record, having recently suffered a 4-1 defeat to No.7 Arizona.

IN THE RANKINGS
The most recent ITA rankings holds UCSB in the No. 47 position. Pablo Masjuan ranks at No. 62 for singles and No. 46 for doubles alongside partner Gianluca Brunkow.

FALL RECAP
UC Santa Barbara started strong in the fall with Pablo Masjuan and Gianluca Brunkow picking up a doubles victory against, at the time, the No. 12 ranked doubles teams in the nation in their opening fall tournament. Later on Masjuan would qualify for the ITA National Fall Championships and make a great run but ultimately fell in the quarterfinal round of the Championship. 

NEW FACES
UC Santa Barbara Men's Tennis recently welcomed a pair of recruits to the team, Dominique Rolland (Calabasas, Calif.) and Gustav Theilgaard (Hillerød, Denmark).
