IRVINE, Calif. - The Big West announced the winners of its weekly softball awards following another full weekend of conference play. This week, UC Santa Barbara's Jazzy Santos was named The Big West Softball Field Player of the Week for the first time in her career. Last season, Santos earned Freshman of the Week.

Santos went nearly perfect at the plate going 7-for-9 (.778) including one double and one home run. The sophomore accounted for 10 of the 29 Gaucho runs driving in five and scoring five times. She got out just twice in 12 total plate appearances and never struck out. She also carried her performance into the field not making an error in nine total chances. 

Santos and the Gauchos earned their third Big West series win this past weekend taking two of three from the Roadrunners. UC Santa Barbara is currently 13-20 overall and 7-5 in Big West play. The Gauchos travel to Long Beach State this upcoming weekend. Santa Barbara and LBSU will play a single game on Friday, April 12 at 6 p.m. followed by a doubleheader Sunday, April 13 starting at 1 p.m.
