Masjuan Wins Another Thriller, Earns All-American Status

STILLWATER, Okla. – UC Santa Barbara Men's Tennis standout Pablo Masjuan continues to impress in the NCAA Singles National Championships, advancing to the Round of 16 with his latest win in the Round of 32. Masjuan's victory over Notre Dame's No. 38-ranked Sebastian Dominko not only moves him forward in the tournament but also earns him All-American status.
 
In the first set, Masjuan struggled to take the lead, with the score tied at 2-2 in a back-and-forth battle. Dominko then gained momentum, winning three consecutive games to lead 5-2. Masjuan managed to take one more game before Dominko closed out the set 6-3.
 
Set two mirrored the competitive nature of the first, but this time Masjuan emerged victorious. After trading games to reach 2-2, Masjuan surged ahead to lead 4-2. Although Dominko won the next game, Masjuan remained composed, winning the subsequent two games to secure the set 6-3.
 
In the decisive third set, Masjuan gained an early lead at 2-1 and never surrendered it. The players traded games until Masjuan led 5-4. The senior then clinched the final game, winning the set 6-4 to take the overall match.
 
His win advances him to the Round of 16 where he will face No.15-ranked Cooper Williams of Harvard. Match time is still to be announced.
