Bremner Set to Join USA Baseball’s Collegiate National Team

CARY, N.C. — UC Santa Barbara Baseball is proud to announce that sophomore pitcher Tyler Bremner has accepted an invitation to USA Baseball's Collegiate National Team Training Camp in Cary, North Carolina, June 26 and 27.

This will be the first time that the Gauchos have a player taking part in back-to-back years, as Matt Ager attended and made the 26-man roster for competition afterwards in 2023. Hudson Barrett was also invited last year but did not attend. Seven other men have represented UC Santa Barbara at Collegiate National Team Training Camp: Jordan Sprinkle (2021), Kyle Nelson (2016), Clay Fisher (2016), Dillon Tate (2014), Chris Valaika (2004), Erik Johnson (1985) and Randy Robinson (1976). The Gauchos' seven invitees in the last 10 years are the most of any Big West school in that span.

Bremner adds this accolade to a collection of three All-America honors from this season, a year in which he did a bit of everything for the Gauchos. He collected 11 victories between the bullpen and the starting rotation in 2024, racking up 104 strikeouts on the year. His efforts as Santa Barbara's Sunday starter from mid-April through the end of the season were key to the Gauchos' run to The Big West Championship and hosting the first ever Santa Barbara Regional.

The sophomore from San Diego will be one of 56 non-draft-eligible collegiate players at this year's training camp, which consists of a two-game Stars and Stripes intrasquad series, June 26 and 27. On June 29, USA Baseball will name the final Collegiate National Team, which this year is made up of two squads. One group will play a five-game International Friendship Series against Chinese Taipei, and the other will play a four-game Summer League Tour against teams from the Coastal Plain League and Appalachian League, two collegiate summer ball leagues. The final action of the summer will be a Fourth of July game between the International Friendship Series squad and the Summer League Tour squad.

All of the Collegiate National Team's games will be played in North Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee. A full schedule, including game times and links to buy tickets can be found at USABaseball.com/team/collegiate. The complete 56-man roster will also be announced there prior to the beginning of training camp.
