RIVERSIDE, Calif. – UC Santa Barbara Men's and Women's swim take on the Cal Baptist Lancers and UNLV Rebels at the Lancer Aquatics Center this Saturday, Jan. 4. The Blue and Gold look to begin the new year by toppling two teams from the Western Athletic Conference.
LAST TIME OUT
The Gauchos performance against Hawai'i was nothing short of dominant. The Dec. 20 meet saw a pair of 96 point victories by both Santa Barbara teams. The Blue and Gold won 23 of 28 events – spearheaded by
Samantha Banos (finishing in first four times) and
Kyle Brill (three times).
ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
On Christmas Eve
Samantha Banos won the Big West Women's Swimmer of the Week for her dominant performance against Cal State Bakersfield and Hawai'i. Across the two meets she won eight events to notch her first conference honor.

SCOUTING THE FIELD
The UNLV men's team has seen recent success. They have won the WAC Swimming and Diving Championship four years in a row. Daniel Nicusan recently took home WAC Swimmer of the Week.
Cal Baptist and UC Santa Barbara met at the Trailblazer Invite in November. Both Gaucho teams finished comfortably above the Lancers after three days of competition.
