HONOLULU – UC Santa Barbara Women's Volleyball visited the University of Hawai'i at Manoa tonight and triumphed with a 3-1 score over the Rainbow Wahine, redeeming their 2024 Hawai'i road loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first set was erratic, with each team taking multiple-point leads at a time. The Gauchos diluted Hawai'i's 21-17 advantage and managed to push the set into overtime. The Rainbow Wahine emerged with the victory, however, grabbing set one 26-24.
The Gauchos changed course and won the following three sets, beginning with a 25-19 score in the second. The Gauchos had a significant lead for the duration of the set, even leading by ten points at 19-9. Hawai'i managed to make the final difference by just six points, but the Gauchos had started their comeback.
Santa Barbara then claimed the third set 25-18. The Rainbow Wahine managed to stay tied through 16-16, but then the Gauchos pulled ahead. The Blue and Gold made nine of the next 11 points to gain the match advantage.
The Gauchos finished the match with a 25-22 fourth set win. Hawai'i trailed for the majority of the set and managed two ties at 3-3 and 15-15. Santa Barbara was in charge for the remainder of the set, which they were able to finalize.

- Layanna Green was named the Bank of Hawai'i Player of the Match after hitting .588 with 11 kills. She also put up three solo blocks and two assists
- Kiersten Schmitt led the Gauchos with a career-high 13 kills and hit .550
- Eva Travis pulled off a double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs
- Michelle Zhao made a season-high 26 assists
- Ayva Ostovar made three service aces alongside 18 assists
- Jordyn Johnson made three solo blocks to contribute to the Gauchos' 10 total blocks
