SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – UC Santa Barbara Women's Soccer started their 2026 class off by signing six on National Signing Day. Five of the six are California natives with their lone out of state recruit coming from Oregon.
Maggie Clermont, the lone out of state signee, comes from Hood River, Oregon by way of Hood River Valley High School. Clermont was a four-year varsity starter earning All-Conference all four years including two first team selections. She was the leading goal scorer during her junior year and helped the team to OSAA Playoff appearances during her junior and senior year. Additionally, she earned the Eagle Award in her final season, which is given to one player who exemplifies perseverance, hard work, integrity and leadership. During her senior season she helped the team to their second-best record in program history and earned the highest ranking since joining 5A in NWOC.
"I chose UC Santa Barbara because of the incredible support from Coach Paul and Coach Andrew," said Clermont. "The family culture, competitive environment, and beautiful location make it the perfect place for me to grow as both a player and a person!"
Mia Fitterer joins the Blue and Gold out of Carlmont High School. The Belmont native was the 2024 Defensive MVP and All-League Second Team selection. In addition to her accolades on the pitch, she has earned National Spanish Exam Silver Award and AP Scholas with Honor Award in the classroom.
"UC Santa Barbara has a great soccer and academic balance," said Fitterer. "The soccer program also uses the possession-oriented style of play, which I like and the location of the school is great."
Savannah Galvan an Avocado Heights native comes to UC Santa Barbara after a great career at Millikan High School. Galvan was a four year scholar athlete along with being a four year honor roll awardee. On the pitch she was named Millikan Defensive Player of the Year and All-Moore League First Team. Additionally, she was also the Moore League Co-Defensive Player of the Year and ECNL Southwest Conference Champs during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons.
"I chose UC Santa Barbara because it offers the perfect balance between strong academics and a highly competitive soccer program," said Galvan. "The team feels like a family which is built on strong work ethic and values discipline, effort, and growth. The coaching staff and their commitment to player development, both on and off the field, as well as the style of play that fits how I love to compete."
Vista Murrieta High School product, Allison Gonzalez, was a two time scholar athlete and was named Athlete of the Month.
"I chose Santa Barbara because it is the perfect balance of academics, athletics and social life," said Gonzalez.
Alondra Talamantes comes to Santa Barbara following a four-year career at Etiwanda High School. During her time at Etiwanda she earned Principals honor roll every semester and earned the Seal of Biliteracy. On the pitch she was a two-time National Championship Finalist and MVP OF Baseline League.
"It's very different from my usual environment and I'd love to expand my horizons," said Talamantes. "I love the setting and culture there."
2021 ECNL National Champion, Ava Ybarra will call UC Santa Barbara home next year after signing with the Gauchos. Ybarra, a product of Norwalk, California earned Honor Roll recognition while at Foundation Christian School.
"I chose UC Santa Barbara because of its amazing athletic program and academics," said Ybarra. "I love the mix of the programs competitive soccer environment and strong sense of community and social connection."
The six signees will join a Gaucho squad that went 13-5-5 during the 2025 season and made their second consecutive appearance in The Big West Championship Final.
