Women’s Basketball Rides to Riverside for Pair of Match Ups

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara Women's Basketball team is headed to Cal Baptist University this weekend, where they will take part in the CBU Tournament on Nov. 28 and 29. The Gauchos will take on the hosting CBU Friday at noon and face either Sacramento State or Chattanooga on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT
Santa Barbara beat San Jose State on the road, besting them 75-60. Zoe Borter became the first Gaucho to break 20 points this season and tied her career-high point count with 22. She made a career-best six free throws and led the team in assists with three. Maddie Naro sunk 18 points against the Spartans for a career-best of her own.

LOOKING AT THE LANCERS
Santa Barbara is 0-5 against CBU in history, with their first face off going down in December of 2018. Their most recent contest was in 2022, where the Lancers took a slight 69-63 win.

The Lancers are led by Lauren Olsen's 15.6 point per game average and Filipa Barros' 11.8 rebounds per game. They are 5-0 this season and took down SJSU with a similar margin as the Gauchos (69-55).

SATURDAY'S SHOWDOWN
UC Santa Barbara will take on Chattanooga or Sacramento State depending on the winner of each Friday face off.

The Gauchos are 3-3 against Sacramento State, last defeating them in December of 2021. The Hornets are 5-2 on the season and led offensively by Natalie Picton. Their defense is grounded by Benthe Versteeg's 34 defensive rebounds this season.

Santa Barbara has never faced Chattanooga, who is 3-4 overall this season. They are coming off of a 64-62 win over Northern Kentucky, an effort that was fueled by Preseason SoCon Player of the Year Caia Elsialdez and her 13 points and 10 assists.

Livestats and ESPN+ will be available for UC Santa Barbara versus Cal Baptist as well as the neutral site game.
