SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Freshman Outside Hitter Gabi Martinez has been nothing short of remarkable this season, recently earning her second Big West Freshman of the Week honor after powering the Gauchos to another flawless 2-0 weekend. The Katy, Texas native continues to impress, collecting multiple conference awards this year for her stellar performances on the court.
Martinez set the tone in Santa Barbara's first win of the weekend against CSUN, where she delivered a commanding 18 kills to lead the Gauchos. Averaging six kills per set, she contributed eight digs, a solo block, and an impressive 6.67 points per set in the match.
Now, Martinez and the Gauchos look to keep their momentum rolling as they return home for match ups against UC San Diego and Long Beach State. Both matches are set to start at 7 p.m. in The Thunderdome.
