BOCA RATON, Fla. - The UC Santa Barbara Men's Tennis team took the early lead with the doubles point and did not let up in singles and they defeated Florida Atlantic 4-1 on Sunday morning at the Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
All three courts of doubles were a battle from the start for the Gauchos. The Owls took court three first with a 6-2 win over
Conrad Brown and
Charlie Underwood.
Diogo Morais and
Lucca Liu got the early lead but the Owls would catch back up to tie the set 5-5 before the Gauchos pushed back with a 7-5 win. Both teams vied for the final court where
Gianluca Brunkow and
Dominique Rolland fought back from a two-game deficit. The pair would ultimately win in the tiebreak 8-6 to get the Gauchos on the board early with the doubles point.
Moving onto singles,
Lucca Liu kept the momentum going with a swift 6-0, 6-3 win in the second position. The Owls would find their first and only point of the day defeating
Conrad Brown 7-5, 6-1.
Matei Gavrea pulled the Gauchos within one point of victory with a win in straight sets on court six.
Dominique Rolland battled in the first position with a 7-3 win in the first set tiebreak. He finished off the match with a 6-3 second set victory, giving the Blue and Gold the 4-1 win over the Owls.
Diogo Morais and
Charlie Underwood were both ahead when the Gauchos got the win. After dropping the first set in a tiebreak, Morais fought back 6-4 in the second set and was ahead early in the third set before the match was left unfinished. Underwood was one game away from victory with a 6-1, 2-6, 5-3 unfinished match.
