Gauchos Remain Undefeated in Conference Play with Win at No. 70 Hawai’i

HONOLULU, Hawai'i – The No. 50 UC Santa Barbara Women's Tennis team rounded out an undefeated week against Big West opponents with a 6-1 victory over No. 70 Hawai'i. The Blue and Gold took a quick lead with the doubles point and carried the momentum into singles with four Gauchos winning in straight sets.

HOW IT HAPPENED
It would take battles on all three courts to get the Gauchos on the board first. On court three, Lily Pradkin and Ali Benedetto secured a dominant 6-2 win. The Rainbow Wahine pushed back on court one defeating Amelia Honer and Lucy Lu, 6-4. The pairing of Raphaelle Leroux and Marie Weissheim earned the Gauchos the point with a 6-4 win in the second position. 

As singles got underway, Lily Pradkin extended the lead with a 6-4, 6-4 victory on court six. Raphaelle Leroux brought the Gauchos within one point of the win with a 6-4, 6-2 win, and Katarina Vayser would add another straight-set performance to clinch the fourth point and the Gaucho win. 

Tyra Richardson contributed a fifth point to the board with a commanding 6-3, 6-2 victory. After dropping the first set, No. 10 Amelia Honer forced a tiebreak for the match but ultimately fell with a tight 10-8 result. On court two, No. 105 Marie Weissheim closed out the dominant day for the Gauchos after falling in the first set and battling back to both force and win the third set, 6-4.
