BERKELEY, Calif. – The No. 35 UC Santa Barbara Men's Tennis team is set to take on No. 16 UCLA in the opening round of the 2025 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championship, hosted by California at the Hellman Tennis Complex. The Gauchos and Bruins will square off on Friday, May 2 at 10 a.m. PT. Host and 11th-seeded Cal will face Boise State (21-5) at 1 p.m. PT, with the winners advancing to Saturday's second round at 1 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Gauchos capped off an impressive regular season with an 18-4 overall record, going a perfect 6-0 in Big West play. At The Big West Championships, UCSB shut out UC San Diego 4-0 in the semifinals but came up just short in a 4-3 loss to UC Irvine in the title match.
Santa Barbara's last NCAA Tournament appearance came in 2023, when the team earned an automatic bid after defeating UC Irvine in the Big West final. The Gauchos fell to San Diego, 4-1, in the opening round.
SCOUTING THE BRUINS
The Gauchos will aim to earn their first-ever win over UCLA, trailing 0-7 in the all-time series. Their last meeting came in 2021-22, when UCSB fell 6-1. The Bruins enter the NCAA Tournament on an eight-match win streak and fresh off their first Big Ten title. UCSB will face a deep lineup featuring four nationally ranked singles players—Rudy Quan (No. 20), Spencer Johnson (No. 35), Emon van Loben Sels (No. 110), and Aadarsh Tripathi (No. 116)—plus the No. 44-ranked doubles team of Alexander Hoogmartens and Tripathi.
