Brad Thomas Set to Compete in USATF Championships

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – UC Santa Barbara senior decathlete Brad Thomas has officially qualified to compete in the 2025 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, scheduled for July 31 through August 3 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

Thomas enters the national meet riding a wave of momentum after a standout collegiate season. At the Big West Outdoor Championships in May, he set a Big West meet record, school record, and facility record in the decathlon with a remarkable 8,108-point performance, earning him Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Meet honors.

Just a month later at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Thomas delivered another elite performance. He scored 7,888 points, securing runner-up and First Team All-American honors in the decathlon, one of the top combined-events athletes in the country.

With the USATF Championships now on the horizon, Thomas will once again compete on the same legendary Hayward Field track. The meet will feature ten events over two days, starting with the 100m, long jump, shot put, high jump, and 400m on Thursday, July 31, followed by the 110m hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, and 1500m on Friday, August 1.

Competing among the nation's top 16 decathletes, Thomas will aim to place in the top three and meet the World Championship standard, thereby earning a berth on Team USA for the Tokyo 2025 Games, scheduled for September.
