SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Senior Zachary Parker for UC Santa Barbara's Men's Cross Country has been awarded Big West Cross Country Athlete of the Week for his notable victory at the Big Wave Invitational at Malibu last Friday.
Parker's dominant win contributed to the Gauchos 40 40-point team victory, placing first overall with a time of 17:44.6 on the 6K course out of 66 finishers. Earning the first Athlete of the Week honor of the 2025 cross country season, Parker has set an early tone in the Big West, signaling a promising season ahead for both himself and the Gauchos.
UC Santa Barbara will host and compete at the Gaucho Twilight, a home meet on Sept. 19. The men will compete in a 7.88K, while the women will run a 6K, as the Gauchos look to build on the strong foundation set by their season-opening team victories.
